After the first find of the season (and of Freddy’s truffle hunting career) on the 9th May harvesting has been an ongoing job for the season. Truffles have been located on every visit apart from a few in the last few weeks where it really slowed down. But now there has been a last minute spike with more markings ready to harvest. That makes it a 4 month harvest season for us this year of tuber melanosporum or the Perigord black truffle (and we are still going). It is a huge thanks to Digger and Freddy (Kings Truffles dogs) as well as Tracy and Andy Billingsley of New Zealand Truffle Dogs and their team of dogs.
