How do I cook with truffles at home? It’s one thing to enjoy them prepared for you in a restaurant, but imagine if you could wow your friends by using them at a dinner party at home! Canterbury’s truffle producers now have enough truffle to offer directly to home cooks, and used cleverly they may provide better value than you imagine.
Who better to show you how than Canterbury’s own ‘celebrity chef’ Jonny Schwass? Join us for a relaxed and fun workshop, matched with local wines and a chance to purchase truffles to take home at the end.
The afternoon will begin with a truffle hunt at King’s Truffles in the Waipara Gorge. We use Freddy, a german short haired pointer crossed with labrador to find the truffles in the astonishing setting that is the truffiere.

Timetable (subject to change)
- 3:30pm Meet at Kings Truffles, Waipara Gorge. Truffle hunt.
- 5:30pm Drive to Glenmark Vicarage with truffles for cooking workshop.
- 9:30pm Cooking workshop finishes.
- Stay overnight for those attending Truffle Day Out the following day.
